London’s Platinum Week centred on two main themes: the potential decrease in recycling supply and sustained high demand for automotive platinum group metals (PGMs) due to internal combustion engine vehicles, particularly hybrids, offsetting the slowing growth of battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
These topics, which have previously been emphasised by the WPIC, could further exacerbate the projected market deficits through 2028. Additionally, there was notable insight from the lack of discussion on mine supply and hydrogen, both of which are now seen as having a more long-term impact.
